Thelma Bearldean Stewart, 89, of Front Royal, VA, formerly of Oakland, MD, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023, in Woodstock, VA.
Born July 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John Warden and Elsie Bernice (Denning) Smith. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Everett “Bill” Stewart; two brothers, Carlton “Bud” and Clayton Smith; and one sister, Delores Smith.
Before her retirement, Thelma worked for Gregg’s Pharmacy as well as Bausch & Lomb as a glass polisher. She was raised on King Run Road and graduated from Oakland High School.
She is survived by two daughters, Lona Bernice Kile, Mishawaka, IN and Debora Kay Boswell & Bryan, Front Royal, VA; one sister, Becky Walter, MD; five grandchildren, Eric and Erin Friend and Matthew, Catherine, and Timothy Miller; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD, on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 1:00pm-3:00pm. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:00pm, with Pastor Barbara Rexrode officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
