Obituary for Shirley Marie Newman (Hoover)
Shirley Marie (Hoover) Newman, 78, of Somerset, PA, died Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at UPMC Somerset, Somerset.
Born March 3, 1944, in Bittinger, MD, she was the daughter of the late Herbert C. and Virgie M. (Bittinger) Hoover. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Newman, June 9, 2022; one brother, Herbert Hoover, Jr.; and one sister, Pauline Scarlett.
Mrs. Newman was a nurses aid for United Cerebral Palsy and was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Glencoe, PA. Shirley had a love for animals.
She is survived by one son, Joshua Scarlett, Indiana, PA; nephew, Jason Scarlett, Greensburg, PA, in addition to a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, PA, on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Gabe Yoder officiating. Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery.
