Obituary for Sherry Ruth Werdebaugh (Bittinger)

Sherry Ruth Werdebaugh, 69, of Oakland, Maryland went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 5, 2022. She passed away at her home, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born on April 12, 1953, Sherry was the daughter of the late Marshall F. and Annabelle (Knox) Bittinger. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Bittinger; step-daughter, Shawny Marley; aunt and uncle, Glen and Susie Miller; sister-in-law, Vi Werdebaugh; nephew, Scott Thrasher; great-nephew, T.J. Werdebaugh; and several aunts and uncles.
Sherry was passionate about her family, taking great care of those she loved up until the day she passed. She was a devoted wife to Bradley Werdebaugh for 43 years and an amazing mother to her son, Matthew Werdebaugh, and daughter, Carrie Werdebaugh. She loved spending time with her grandsons, Dustin Werdebaugh and Isaiah Marley, whom she loved dearly. Sherry is also survived by one brother, Marshall (Doris) Bittinger, Jr.; four sisters, Mary (Glen) Artice; Marsha (Joe) Swauger; Beverly (Bob) Thrasher; and Patsy (Brad) Stewart; special cousin, Denise (Isaac) Glascock; brother-in-law Darrell Werdebaugh; sister-in-law Cheryl (Edgar, Jr.) Uphold; son-in-law Scott Marley; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sherry worked at Western Maryland Consortium for over 40 years, helping many members of the community. She faithfully served the Lord throughout her lifetime not only in the church community but in her everyday life. Sherry was known as Ruth to her close family members, and this quote written about Ruth in the Bible reminds her family of Sherry Ruth: “Be a Ruth, loyal in all your relationships, walk the extra mile, and don’t quit when things get tough. Someday you’ll see why it was all worth the effort.”
