Obituary for Sheila Ann Wharton (Henry)

Sheila Wharton, 78, of Oakland, MD, was surrounded by her daughters and granddaughter when she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV

Born September 22, 1944, in Dumas TX, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and S. Azile (Rosco) Henry. She was also proceeded in death by grandson, Brady Alec Sisler, a sister, Trella Fern Foreman and a step-daughter, Larilla (Wharton) Bedford.

Sheila graduated from Dumas High School, in 1963. Shortly after, she met her husband Ray. They traveled to many different states, settling in Garrett County in 1970. In 1980, she and Ray opened R & S Enterprises which was known throughout the area as “The Gun Shop”. Sheila was very involved in all aspects of the gun shop and even took up competitive bow shooting until closing in 1999. She later took a supervisory position at TDEC, until her retirement in 2018. She loved her four girls more than anything and loved spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately called her MeMe.

She is survived by her husband, E. Ray Wharton, four daughters, Renee (Wharton) Schlegel, McHenry, MD; Rhonda (Wharton) Sisler and fiancé John Hawk, Kitzmiller, MD; Rachelle (Wharton) Lewis & Todd, Summit Point, WV; Raeleen (Wharton) Davies, Washington, PA; twelve grandchildren, Brenda (Bedford) Miller & Mike; Amanda Bedford; T.J. Sisler & Kaitlyn; Chase Sisler & Shelby; Ty Sisler; Krista Lewis; Jordan (Lewis) Hampshire & Nathaniel; Joshua Lewis; Kara Lewis; Alexis (Davies) Allcock & Joseph; Ashley Davies; Cole Davies; seven great grandchildren, Mackenze Partrich; Janelle, Logan and Andrew Miller; Ava and Ella Sisler; Rhett Allcock (due January 25, 2023); step-grandchildren Leanna and Makenna Hawk.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr, Oakland, MD 21550 on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 12-2 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel following visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Marty Herron officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
