Obituary for Sheila Elaine Sweitzer

Sheila Elaine (Root) Sweitzer, 78, of Terra Alta, WV passed away Wednesday, October 26th, 2022, in Oakland, MD.

Born May 31st, 1944, in Oakland, MD, she was the daughter of the late George Root and Alfreda (Weimer) Moore. She was an only child and was preceded in death by her loving husband Michael Sweitzer.

As a young adult she lived and worked in Baltimore, MD. Upon returning to the Garrett County area, she worked for Bausch & Lomb and Garrett/ Bachmann Optical.

Sheila had many hobbies, and one of those in her later years was making jewelry to give out to family. She enjoyed watching wrestling, thriller shows, shopping shows, hunting, fishing, and antiquing. Her imagination had no limits, and believed Sasquatch was out there somewhere.
When her husband was alive, they would take trips to Atlantic City, as well as dig for gold and gemstones in the Appalachians. She always spoke her mind and meant what she said. Sheila was a very outspoken woman who will be missed dearly by family.

Her ancestors were a part of the founding fathers of Garrett County, MD.

Sheila was survived by four daughters and one son, Aurelia Marple, Oakland: Carol Corbin (Steve) Oakland: Serena Futch (Doug) Oakland; Rechell Mruk (Justin), Peoria, AZ, and Danny Boyce, Terra Alta, WV.

She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren: Wesley Wilt (Jess), Jeremiah Wilt (Lisa), Elaine Ball (Justin); John Corbin and Jack Corbin (Aimee); Stephen, Ricky, Samuel, and Mickaylee Seeders; Nicole Broadwater (Derek); Samantha Lucas (Nolo) and Noel Lucas; and Geoffrey Collins (Lauren). She also leaves behind five great grandchildren: Zach and Jensen Wilt, Nora and Lorelai Broadwater, and Baby girl Elara Collins.

At Sheila's request, there will be no viewing or memorial service.
