Roy Thomas “Junior” Garlitz, Jr., 80, of Frostburg, MD, died Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, MD.
Born May 24, 1942, in Avilton, MD, he was the son of the late Roy T. and Teresa (McKenzie) Garlitz, Sr. He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jay Butler.
Junior was a heavy equipment operator with Potomac Edison, working out of Local 37. He was a member of the Salisbury V.F.W. Home Aid Association and the MOOSE.
Junior never met a stranger and was always welcoming everyone. He enjoyed spending time on the farm and in the orchard with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Angela Louise (Baker) Garlitz; one son, Thomas R. (Anna Hutzel) Garlitz, Avilton; three daughters, Pamela (Kevin) Hare, Frostburg, MD; Lori Butler, Grantsville, MD; Kimberly (Mike) Frederick, Avilton; one brother, Carl (Lynda) Garlitz, Cumberland; two sisters, Dolores “Snooks” (Lee Wilt) Carter and Rita Bonner, all of Frostburg; six grandchildren, Tanya, TJ, Sherri, Lee, Tiffany and Codey; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Isaiah, Evan, Errice, Brooklynn, Aiden, Roman, Ava and Reese; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating. Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery.
