Obituary for Nina Louise Bassford Miller (Golliday)
Nina Louise (Golliday) Bassford Miller, 76, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
Born May 25, 1945, in Catonsville, MD, she was preceded in death by infant grandsons, Joshua Wade Bassford and James Paul Bassford, Jr.
Nina was a stay-at-home mom raising her three sons. Once they grew, she worked for 30 years with the Carroll County Board of Education, driving a bus for special needs children. When she retired from driving a bus, she traveled around and settled in Oakland, MD. Nina loved the Lord and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also loved her friends at Liberty Square, especially, Wanda “Little Bit”. She was known for calling everyone “Baby” and giving hugs everywhere she went. In her spare-time she liked to go fishing, crabbing, camping and traveling with her friends and family.
She is survived by her three sons, Martin Wade Bassford Guthrie and husband, Bruce, Dundalk, MD; Roy Edward Bassford and wife, Tammy, Oakland, MD; James Paul Bassford and wife, Christy, Sykesville, MD; eight grandchildren, Cortney, Jay, Jenessa, JennaSue, Joseph, Jacob, Jasmine and Andrew; six great-grandchildren, Cole, Olivia, Aviana, Cailyn, Caroline and Winslow.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, 21550, on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Samuel Moon officiating. At Nina’s request she will be cremated after her services.
