Obituary for Miriam Schrock (Beachy)

Miriam (Beachy) Schrock, 88, of Grantsville, MD, died Friday, December 31, 2021, at her residence.

Born March 31, 1933, in Salisbury, PA, she was the daughter of the late Noah M. and Elizabeth (Tice) Beachy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Schrock; one daughter, Geneva Joy; two brothers, Ernest and Elmer Beachy; two sisters, Grace Beachy and Rachel Beachy.

Miriam was a member of the Mountain View Mennonite Church. She was active with the Sewing Circle and enjoyed sewing comforts and quilt tops. As a young girl, she aspired to having 12 children. God graciously granted her that wish. She served her family with grace and dignity, making a lasting impact with her gracious spirit. During the nearly two years that she required 24hr. care, she didn’t complain when each of her seven daughters had “different styles” of caring for her. The sons express their deep thanks and gratitude for outstanding and committed personal care for Mother. She was a bright spot for the Hospice employees who shared in her care.

Miriam is survived by four sons, Martin Schrock, married to Joyce, Millard Schrock, married to Diane, both of Grantsville, MD; Mayard Schrock, married to Trish, Cumberland, MD; Melvin “Cork” Schrock, married to Lorie, Accident, MD; seven daughters, Vera Martin, married to Bruce, Meyersdale, PA; Delores Yoder, married to Michael, Grantsville; Gloria Swartzentruber, married to Kenneth, Salisbury; Loretta Tice, married to Gerald, Lila Beachy, married to Merlin, both of Grantsville; Julia Yoder, married to Bradley, Springs, PA; Rebecca Kauffman, married to David, Bittinger, MD; three sisters, Alma Beachy, Alice Tice and Ruth Miller, all of Grantsville; 39 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all those who uplifted us in prayer in the past year, and the last few days with food and words of encouragement. Your prayers and support have been greatly appreciated.

A special thanks to Kelly Knox, Stephanie Wilt, and the Hospice Staff, for their kind and gentle care for our Mother.
