Obituary for Michael E. "Mike" Deal

Michael E. “Mike” Deal, 60, of Sanford, FL, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Inpatient Unit of AdventHealth Hospice, Altamonte Springs, FL.

Born March 30, 1963, in Meyersdale PA, he was the son of the late Paul D. and
Carol (Briskey) Deal. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Myrtle (Meese) Deal and Alton Briskey and Grace (Miller) Briskey; uncles, Darrel Deal, Delmas
Deal, Terry Deal, Bob Briskey, Jim Briskey, Don Briskey and aunts, Emma Briskey and
Betty Briskey. Also, dogs, Robin and Scooby Doo.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen Sue (Hurd) Deal, Sanford, FL and furry companion, Casey; aunts, Ruth (John) Scheffel, Braddock Heights, MD; Alice Deal and Linda Deal, both of Meyersdale; Ardith Deal, Salisbury, PA and Ada Briskey, Meyersdale; sisters-in-law, Patricia L. (the late Richard) Bryant, Sunrise, FL, and Linda K. (Greg) Gill, Mount Dora, FL. He is also survived by 12 cousins, 2 nieces and 1 nephew and extended family.

Mike graduated in 1981 from Salisbury-Elk Lick High School, Salisbury and went on to receive his BS, MBA, CMA and CBM.

He started at Citizen Bank, Meyersdale, then onto Bechtel Corporation, Bechtel Equipment Operations (BEO), LG&E and Washington Gas as an accountant. He was also a past Adjunct Professor at GCU & IUS.

Mike was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Parish, where he grew up in the Greenville
Evangelical Lutheran Church and later attended services at St. John’s Lutheran Church,
Salisbury, PA. He was a past member of the Salisbury Lions Club and the IMA.

Friends will be received at the Greenville Lutheran Church, 2706 Greenville Rd., Salisbury, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service will follow in the church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tyler Graham officiating. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
