Matthew Dakota Platter passed away suddenly at his residence in Grantsville, MD, on Tuesday March 14, 2023. He went to be with the Lord at the young age of 22.
He was born in Cumberland, MD, on January 27, 2001.
Matthew is preceded in death by great-grandparents, Edna and Buzz Wilt; grandfather, Guy Platter; uncle, Stanley Platter and aunt, Tara Wilt.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Platter, South Carolina; father, Kip Wilt, Grantsville; guardian mother, Melissa Collins, Grantsville; sister, Larrissa Mock, South Carolina; guardian brother, Dylan Poling, Accident, MD; guardian sister, Jessica Poling, Accident; grandmother, Peggy Platter, Grantsville; grandparents, Nancy and Ken Wilt, Garrett, PA; uncles, Scott and Glenda Platter, Connellsville, PA; Shawn Platter and Sue Shaffer, Meyersdale, PA; Chad and Tracy Platter, Deer Park, MD; Thomas Dean Faulker, Somerset, PA; Keith Wilt, Garrett; Kevin Wilt, Garrett; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Matthew was recently employed at Reflecting Heaven Stables, Grantsville, a job that he truly loved and put his whole heart and soul into in the short time he worked there.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor CW Edmondson officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
