Obituary for Mary Delores Hersick (Broadwater)
Mary Delores (Broadwater) Hersick, 76, of Westernport, formerly of Avilton, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2021, at her home with her beloved children by her side.
Born on February 7, 1945, she was the only child born to the late Lester and Rose (Laudermilk) Broadwater. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George David Hersick.
Surviving are her son, Gregory David, her caregiver who took excellent care of his Mother, and daughter, Ann Alita, her Mother’s joy. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Pat Hersick, Peggy Snyder, Susan Crawford and Mary Bond and one brother-in-law, James Hersick.
She is also survived by special cousins, Jenny Weimer and her husband Jim and their children Jeannie, Jackie and Joann; Debbie Wilhelm, Greg’s special friend and numerous cousins.
Mrs. Hersick was a Catholic by faith. Her passion in life were her children, whom she always referred to as her special gifts and was thankful for them each day. Mary Delores was a 1963 graduate of Valley High School, where she met her husband. They married on June 26, 1965.
A special thanks to all the Hospice nurses who gave excellent care to Mary Delores and compassion to Greg and Ann. Also a special thanks to all the neighbors and friends for their support to our family during this time.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
