Obituary for Mary Katherine Bach (Ringer)

Mary Katherine Bach, 93, of Accident, MD, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD.

Born July 9, 1929, in Accident, she was the daughter of the late Albert Newton and Mary Etta (Cramer) Ringer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Owen Henry Bach, January 14, 2005; two brothers, Herbert Ringer and Charles Ringer; four sisters, Ruth Friend, Hazel Ringer, Margaret Richter and Thelma Richter; and daughter-in-law, Christine Bach.

Mrs. Bach worked for the Garrett County Board of Education as a teacher’s aide at Accident Elementary for three years and as the Cafeteria Manager at Northern Middle School for 17 years. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, ELCA, Cove, where she was a member of the ladies aid and organist for nearly 70 years. She was also a member of the Accident Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary, served as secretary of Thrivent, was the flower superintendent at the Garrett Co. Fair, and volunteered with the Bloodmobile and the Lutheran Braille Workers. Mary was known for her chiffon cakes and enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by two sons, Edward (Rhonda) Bach, Grantsville; Allen Bach, Accident; one daughter, Janet (David) Taylor, Accident; six grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Bach, Adam (Bethany) Bach, Laura (Shaun) Pressley, Jessica (Keith) Brown, Justine (Justin) Mitchell and Patrick (Rhonda) Finch; seven great-grandchildren, Malakai Bach, Kierstyn Bach, Blake Brown, Elliott Brown, Maisy Rae Brown, Bodhi Dean Pressley and Thomas Finch; numerous loved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Goodwill Mennonite Home and Hospice of Garrett County for their excellent care of Mary Katherine.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, ELCA, Cove, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Peter Suwak officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
