Obituary for Marvin Clay "PeeWee" Snyder

Marvin Clay Snyder “known as PeeWee”, 85, of Grantsville, MD, passed away, March 19, 2022, in his home. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Lois Elaine Snyder and his children, whom he adored more than anything else in the world.

He was born in Bittinger, MD, the son of the late Ellis Elwood and Althea Josephine Snyder. He grew up with 13 loving siblings of whom three sisters survive, who were all known by nicknames.

In his early 20's, he met and fell in love with his loving wife of 63 years. They both came from large families and couldn't wait to begin their own lives together with their own large family. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to him. He certainly did not disappoint when it came to loving his family.

PeeWee started building homes at a young age. He enjoyed working with his hands on multiple projects, such as yard work and mechanical work. He was consistently teaching his children his work ethics as they continued to grow and work together. PeeWee was a dedicated Jehovah's Witness with the Grantsville congregation. His strong hope was to live forever in paradise with his family again. He truly believed what Jesus said in Luke 23:43, “You will be with me in paradise”.

Elaine and family will always remember the way they were loved by him with the lyrics of the song “Daddy's Hands”. “You could read quite a story in the callous' and lines, years of work and worry had left their mark behind. I remember daddy's hands how they held my mama tight, and patted my back for something done right. There are things that I'd forgotten that I loved about the man, but I'll always remember the love in daddy's hands.”

As well as his loving wife, Elaine, he is survived by his seven children, Barbara (Mark) Furman, Gina (Jack) Wengerd, Teresa (Jody) Miller, Jenifer (Mark) Laffey, Marcia (Jay) Miller, Martin (Trina) Snyder and Crystal (Joe) Childs; 15 grandchildren, Randy (Molly) Furman, Matt (Stacey) Furman, Kellie (Kevin) Kidwell, Ryan Wengerd, Pamela Robinette, Jamie (Amber) Miller, Jeff Miller, Aaron Babcock, Katelyn Babcock, Stephanie Miller, Jenna Miller, Samuel Snyder, Colton Snyder, Kodah Snyder and Jace Childs and 15 great grandchildren, Kylie, Kadon, Amber, Abby, Dane, Leightyn, Kaia, Kenadie, Lilah, Bailey, Brody, Skylin, Sawyer, Nahlelie and Dean.

No services are planned at this time. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
