Obituary for Margaret Mahood (McGuire)
Margaret McGuire Mahood, 82, of Deep Creek Lake, MD, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, MD, surrounded by family.
Born May 9, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, Margaret was the daughter of the late Stanley and Elsie McGuire. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Alexander M. Mahood.
Margaret is a graduate from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA, earning a bachelor’s degree, then her master’s degree. She was a teacher at Winchester Thurston in Pittsburgh. Margaret later became a valuable member of Garrett Community College where she was both a teacher and an advisor.
She is survived by her son, David Craig Savage & Heather Miller Savage (wife); her daughter, Laura Kathleen (Savage) Golliday & Ronald Franklin Golliday (husband); her grandchildren, Mac Jamison & Rebecca Jamison (wife), Madeleine Savage, Isabelle Savage, and Daniel Savage; and her great-granddaughter, Elaina Jamison. A special note goes out to her step-daughters, Kathryn Mahood, Sara Hampton, and Elizabeth (Mahood) Andrews and families.
Margaret was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Deer Park, MD. She enjoyed playing bridge as well as participating in her book club and garden club. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Margaret will be cremated and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.
