Obituary for Louis Franklin "Lou" Detrick
Louis Franklin “Lou” Detrick, 73 of Eighty Four, PA, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, in McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray, PA.
Born April 30, 1949, in Brownsville, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Aida Ruth (Johnson) Detrick. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Janet Detrick and step-mother, Mary Otto Detrick.
Mr. Detrick was a 1969 graduate of Beth Center High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He was employed as an airplane mechanic at various airlines over the years including United Airlines, Air Charter at Washington Airport, and eventually retired from US Air, now American Airlines. He also worked on boats as a mechanic in the Deep Creek, MD area.
Lou was a member of both the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bittinger, MD and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Scenery Hill, PA.
He enjoyed hunting and farming. Lou loved antique tractors, music and singing. He was a very hard worker who loved learning about all things and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth (Brenneman) Detrick, they were married June 12, 1971; two children, Lindsey (Detrick) Novogradac (Brandon), Canonsburg, PA and Adam Detrick, Eighty Four; a sister, Janice Litton (Bill), Beallsville, PA; a step-sister, Helen Hetrick, Grantsville, MD; a step-brother, Robert Otto, Midland, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday, April 21, 2023 from 3-7 p.m., in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA.
Friends will be received on Monday, April 24, 2023, from 12-2 p.m., in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. A graveside service will follow in the Bittinger Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Nancy Knol officiating.
