Lois “Elaine” Snyder, 80, of Grantsville, MD, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV, surrounded by her beloved children and family.

Born May 3, 1941, in Newburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Genevieve (Nuce) Thomas. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “PeeWee” Snyder and one sister, Dolores Sinclair.

Elaine was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, wife, and mother. She enjoyed playing basketball in her high school years. She met the love of her life and married Marvin “PeeWee” Snyder in September of 1959 and soon thereafter began their family together. By 1970 she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and taught her family to have a desire to read their Bible daily and to love Jehovah their heavenly father. She was a studious Bible student who loved to share in the ministry what she learned from her studies. She understood Jehovah’s unfailing love and she mirrored that love with her husband, family, and friends, teaching them to be the same. Elaine was a wonderful homemaker and caregiver. She enjoyed cooking, making quilts, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her siblings, Carolyn Germain, Barbara (John) Carr, Robert (Linda) Thomas and David (Carol) Thomas; seven children, Barbara (Mark) Furman, Gina (Jack) Wengerd, Teresa (Jody) Miller, Jenifer (Mark) Laffey, Marcia (Jay) Miller, Martin (Trina) Snyder, and Crystal (Joe) Childs; 15 grandchildren, Randy (Molly) Furman, Matt (Stacy) Furman, Kellie (Kevin) Kidwell, Ryan Wengerd, Pamela Robinette, Jamie (Amber) Miller, Jeff Miller, Aaron Babcock, Katelyn Babcock, Stephanie Miller, Jenna Miller, Samuel Snyder, Colton Snyder, Kodah Snyder and Jace Childs; 15 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kadon, Amber, Abby, Dane, Leightyn, Kaia, Kenadie, Lilah, Bailey, Brody, Skylin, Sawyer, Nahlelie and Dean.

“Our mother’s last request was that her children continue to love and care for one another long after she is gone.”

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 1-2 p.m. A joint memorial service for Marvin “PeeWee” and Lois “Elaine” will follow in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m.
