Lisbeth Annette Joy, 65, passed away July 15, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was the youngest daughter of the late Harry and Mary Ann Shirey. Born February 28, 1957, Lis lived a wonderful life. She embodied kindness, selflessness, and joy. She loved life and was up for experiencing all that it had to offer. And experience it she did.
Lis loved her trips to Williamsburg, Walt Disney World, yearly mother-daughter trips to far-away places and cruising the seas of the Caribbean with Jerry. One of the many memories within these trips involved parasailing with her daughter - how she ever landed back on that little boat without getting wet she never understood. Lis loved all holidays but was particularly smitten with Halloween, making sure the house was decked out beginning mid-September. This is probably why her favorite Disney ride was the Haunted Mansion, and why her grandchildren learned to recognize and hum the theme song at a very young age.
Lis worked as an account executive for BGS&G, and later CBIZ. After 40 years she retired without regret, excited to begin the new chapter of her life, sharing it with family and friends. She spent much of that time reading, enjoying her gazebo, and making memories with her family.
Lis’s most fulfilling roles were that of Mom and later Grandma. Her family, though biased, believes that she was the best at both. She loved and was loved immensely. She absolutely adored being a grandma. Harrison would ask how many ‘sleeps’ before he would see Grandma again and couldn’t wait until bedtime when she would pick up her kindle and read stories to him. Charlotte, only a year old, was learning patty cake and had mastered washing her hands because of Grandma. Charlotte got quite good at saying goodbye and blowing kisses, something that she showed off to Grandma during their last visit together.
She leaves behind her husband and love of her life, Jerry, daughter, Jenni, and a son-in-law Jonathan, whom she treated and loved like her own son. She also leaves behind two sisters, Susan, and Karen Pitrolo (Jim), two nieces, and her kitties. Her greatest regret would have been leaving behind her two grandchildren, Harrison, and Charlotte.
Lis was one of the strongest women a person would ever have the pleasure of knowing. She was a fierce advocate for those that she loved and was kind to a fault. Lis was beautiful inside and out. She created a house that was a home; it was one in which was always open to family and friends and always full and welcoming of all. Lis was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandma, and friend. To know her was to love her. She will be missed beyond measure.
At her request she will be cremated and no services are planned.
