Obituary for Lillian Susan Guthrie (Durst)
Lillian Susan Guthrie, 77, of Frostburg, MD, died Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD.
Born April 7, 1945, in Longstretch, MD, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Carr) Durst. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Guthrie, Sr.; two brothers, Carl and Wesley.
Mrs. Guthrie was a seamstress at the Flushing Shirt Factory. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church choir and Woodmen Camp 41, Grantsville, where she was past president. She was also a member of the Grantsville Fire Department Auxiliary and the Daughters of Dorcas Sewing Circle.
She is survived by two sons, Dale Eugene (companion, Karen) Guthrie; James Franklin (Connie) Guthrie, Jr., all of Grantsville; one daughter, Cheryl Ann (Jeff) Emmart, Greencastle, PA; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Crystal, Nick, Dale, Jr., Brittany, Tristan, Jeremiah, Kayla and Kerry; four great-grandchildren, Levi, Colton, Jack and Landon.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dan Agnew officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
