Obituary for Lena Marie Sipple (Bittinger)
Lena Marie (Bittinger) Sipple, 98, of Grantsville, MD, died Friday, February 18, 2022, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born August 17, 1923, in Accident, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Arminta (Durst) Bittinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nyle E. Sipple; one brother, Frederick Bittinger and five sisters, Mildred Ryland, Jeannette Lohr, Nora Resh, Pearl Brenneman and Mary Savage.
Mrs. Sipple was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She had been employed as a seamstress for Flushing Shirt Factory, Meyersdale Manufacturing and Salisbury Undergarment Factory and had also worked at Statler's Hotel, Salisbury, PA.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Bittinger and wife, Sue, Grantsville; two grandchildren, Douglas Bittinger and Lisa Collins and husband, Michael; six great-grandchildren, Allison, Ashley, Abigail, Zander, Belonna and Lena and one great-great-granddaughter, Ebie.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 1-2 pm. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm, with the Rev. Tyler Graham officiating. Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.
