Obituary for John Stewart Patton Jr.

John Stewart Patton, Jr. left this world on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, to join his sweet love, wife of 50+ years Edwina, in the next life.

Born September 4, 1932, in Baltimore MD, he was the son of the late, John Stewart Patton, Sr. and Eliska Jemison of Baltimore.

John was member of the US Army, serving his time during the Korea War. He was a top salesman for 3M company’s newly invented Xerox portable copying machine, sold realstate, and spent more than 10 years directing Charles Village House, a halfway house for mental patients in downtown Baltimore. In his retirement John wrote articles about events and local history for the Garrett County Republican Newspaper. John and Edwina spent more than 20 years together enjoying retired life in Nobleton, Florida, before moving back home to Friendsville for their last years.

He is survived by four children, Jennifer and husband, Robert Pletta, Friendsville, Rebecca Patton, Douglas Patton, and son, John; grandchildren, Christle Patton, Valerie Lucas, Margaret Pletta and Sean Mastej; great-grandsons, Roczen and Waylon Lucas.

John was buried next to Edwina, with full military honors, carried out by the Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in the Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville.

Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
