Jeffery L. Frantz, 63, of Grantsville, MD, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, MD, after a short but courageous bout with cancer. In the last act on earth, surrounded by his mother and sister, Kim, Jeff smiled as he entered the loving embrace of his heavenly father.
Born April 20, 1959, in Grantsville, he was the son of Helen R. (Loechel) Frantz and the late Gary W. Frantz. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Mildred Loechel and nephew, Jordan G. Fratz.
Jeff was a graduate of Northern High School, upon graduation; Jeff worked for his father’s logging business, Tri State Logging. Until recently, Jeff also worked for Grantsville Truck and Trailer. Even more importantly, Jeff was an amazing uncle to his 10 nieces and nephews. He always found time to play catch, a video game, or to just simply share a laugh.
Along with his mother, he is also survived by two brothers, Gary R. Frantz, Cresaptown, MD; Eric J. (Melissa) Frantz, Grantsville; three sisters, Kimberly S. (Randy) Butler, Grantsville; Lisa A. (Greg) Fratz, Accident, MD; Cheryl D. Frantz, Grantsville; nine nieces and nephews, Brandon (Lindsay) Butler, Cody (Stephanie) Butler, Trevor (Abby) Butler, Jodi (Ricky) Wilson, Jessica (Chad) Carr, Katie Frantz, Andrea Frantz, Kylie (Jonah) Schneider and Connor Frantz; 12 great-nieces and nephews.
