Obituary for James Richard Walker

James Richard Walker, 83, of Grantsville and formerly of Salisbury, PA, died Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, MD.

Born Easter Sunday, April 9, 1939, in Salisbury, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Orpha (Beachy) Walker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Ann (Joyce) Walker, June 1, 2022; one son, Harry W. Walker; four brothers, Sam Walker, Mike Walker, Jack Walker and William “Bim” Walker; one sister, Frances Engle.

Mr. Walker was a sheet metal worker and supervisor for Norair Engineering Corp and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He attended Grace Community Church, was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, Service on Wheels Ever Ready Serving (SOWERS) and the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Washington, DC.

He is survived by three sons, James R. (Patricia) Walker, Jr., Laurel, MD; Bryan D. (Dani) Walker, Jacksonville, FL; Samuel T. (Monica) Walker, Haymarket, VA; one daughter-in-law, Tracy LeDuc, Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Shane, Jesse, Katie, Zachary, Devin Lillie, Bryce, Brady and Graham; one great-grandchild, Kalli.

A graveside service will be held in the Salisbury Cemetery on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matt Widder officiating. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Earl H. Opel Post 459, Salisbury American Legion.

Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
