James David Carmack, 80, of McHenry, MD, died Monday, October 3, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, MD.
Born December 28, 194l, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late David A. and Mary (Karaffa) Carmack.
Jim graduated from North Hills High School in 1959 and went to work for his father in the family business D. A. Carmack & Son, Locksmiths. He continued in this until his retirement in 2007. At that time he and Shelby moved to Deep Creek Lake which had been his lifelong dream after spending many summers and lots of weekends there.
He was a member of North Hills Lodge #716 F&AM in Pittsburgh, Rotary Club of Oakland, MD and a life member of Perrysville Volunteer Fire Co. in Pittsburgh. He was also a member of the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, McHenry, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shelby K. (Stokes) Carmack; one sister, Nancy I. (Harry) Kelble, North Port, FL; and many nieces and nephews; Godfather to Kari Lynn (Mankey) Toney, Pittsburgh.
Jim never met a stranger and he will be missed by the many friends he has made during his lifetime.
At Jim’s request, he will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., in the Oak Grove Church, 6557 Sang Run Road, McHenry, MD. Interment will follow.
