Frederick William Holtschneider, 74, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at his home.
Born February 24, 1949, he was the son of the late John J. and Anna M. (Carr) Holtschneider. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John S. Holtschneider; two sisters, Virginia Reckart and Barbara Lewis; and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Weigman and Robert L. Lewis.
Frederick worked at Garrett College as a groundskeeper and maintenance man. He loved his job and enjoyed seeing everyone at the college. He fulfilled his goal of always keeping the facility looking its best. He was kind and would always try to make people smile. His family says he had an amazing work ethic which came from him being very hard-working and stubborn. Frederick also loved animals (whether he would admit it or not) and enjoyed mowing grass on his zero-turn mower. But his heart was in his farm; he had lived his entire life on it and had been a farmer his whole life.
He is survived by one son, Frederick W. ”Will” Holtschneider, Jr.; one daughter, Anna S. Holtschneider; one brother, Robert Holtschneider & wife, Sarah, all of Oakland; and two sisters, Mary Elaine Weigman, Avon, OH and Linda Gordon & husband Edwin, Oakland.
A celebration of life will be held at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD, on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00pm. A service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00pm with Rev. William Skipper officiating. Interment will be at Deer Park cemetery.
