Obituary for Franciene J. Shugars (Durst)
Franciene J. Shugars, 58, of Somerset, PA, died Sunday, April 24, 2022, at UPMC Altoona, Altoona, PA, surrounded by her family and special friend.
Born March 3, 1964, in Meyersdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank Robert and Retha June (Shoemaker) Durst.
Ms. Shugars was a CNA at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church. Franciene volunteered at Healing Hunger Food Pantry, Cumberland, MD and enjoyed helping family and friends, crocheting and liked shopping at the Salvation Army. Franciene never met a stranger and had a very big heart for everyone in her life.
She is survived by three sons, Keith A. (Koby) Durst, Grantsville; Kristopher E. Durst, Somerset; Ernest E. (Ashley) Shugars, Jr., Meyersdale; one daughter, Emily J. Shugars, Meyersdale; two brothers, her twin, Frankie J. Durst and John G. (Wendy) Durst, all of Cumberland, MD; two sisters, Patricia G. (Rick) Durst, Salisbury, PA; JoAnn (Gary) Kamp, Grantsville; six grandchildren, Kaylee, Kyle, Heylee, Keiarah, Zeylee and Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. William Durst officiating. Cremation will follow services.
