Obituary for Dr. Arline Westmeier (Maust)

Dr. Arline Westmeier, 85, of Grantsville, MD, died Thursday, November 11, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland.

Born July 27, 1936, in Meyersdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Verna (Miller) Maust. She was preceded in death by her husband Karl, twin brother Arvin, brother Elmer, and sisters Emma Maust, Iva Yoder Zook, and Annie Beitzel.

She was a member of the Oak Dale Church, Salisbury.

She is survived by one son, David (Yeins) Westmeier, Long Island, NY; one daughter, Ruthie Westmeier, New York City, NY; two grandsons, Benjamin David, and Matthew Jacob; and one sister Edna (Gordon) Bender, Grantsville.

Arline began her missionary career as a nurse in 1965. She met Karl at language school. After language school, they went to Colombia where they ministered for 20 years. They moved to Nyack, NY, to teach at the Alliance Theological Seminary from 1986-1991. They continued to teach at the Alliance Seminary in Puerto Rico from 1991-2002. Throughout this time, Arline had a counseling ministry and wrote four books. Her fifth book, about to be published, is the testimony of a Muslim from Bangladesh who came to faith in Jesus.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Oak Dale Church, 9201 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury, PA, at 11 am with Pastor Joe Byler officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Oak Dale Cemetery.
