Obituary for Donald Lloyd Tressler

Donald Lloyd Tressler, 96, of Salisbury, PA, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD.

Born March 13, 1926, in Springs, PA, he was the son of the late Resley and Florence (Briskey) Tressler. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Resley, Jr., Duane, Brad, Marvin “Chuck”, Mark, Abraham and Jackie Tressler; four sisters, Violet Hovatter, Beulah Maust, Evelyn Doerr and Rita Hollada; and one grandson, Michael Tressler.

Mr. Tressler was owner/operator of Tri-State Memorials and also a self-employed contractor. Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the last surviving charter member of the Walker-Harris Post 8826, Salisbury V.F.W. He was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ, where he served on the Consistory and was an Elder, Emeritus and Deacon. He was also a member of the Victory Post 155, Westernport American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Louise (Ringler) Tressler; one son, Michael K. (Kathy) Tressler, Port Charlotte, FL; two daughters, Melanie L. (Jerry) Hoover, Fort Hill, PA; Melissa D. (John) George, Salisbury, PA; one sister, Marvette Hollada, Salisbury; six grandchildren, Shawn, Jeremy and Jesse Hoover, Resley, Seth and Lance Tressler; 13 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Goodwill Mennonite Home for the wonderful care given to Donald.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 12-2 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Walker-Harris Post 8826, Salisbury V.F.W.
