Obituary for David Emerson Durst

David Emerson Durst, 69, of Salisbury, PA, went to the Lord to be reunited with his mother on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at his residence.

Born April 15, 1953, in Meyersdale, PA, he was the son of the lateThelma (Maust) Durst and Emerson Durst. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Margie Lickfelt.

Mr. Durst was a owner/operator of his own truck and retired after 34 years. Dave was a 1972 graduate of Salisbury Elk-Lick High School and made it to all of his reunions, except the last one, for 50 years. He was a firm believer in going to church every Sunday, where he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salisbury, where he also served on the council in his younger days.

Dave was into fast cars and had many funny and scary stories from his younger driving days. He loved his 55’ Chevy, which he got to enjoy it many years ago, but as he aged, it just sat. He was a big Harley fan, always talking about his collection that he did a lot of traveling on. Dave and Karen went to many states and made it to Sturgis three times. He was also a lifetime member of HOG (Harley Owners group).

He was also into boating, having learned to water ski. He was never afraid to try anything, like the time he jumped off a small cliff into a lake; his response was he would never do that again! Biggest wedige EVER!

“Those who knew Dave, know he was the “King” of aggravating. After his illness he just wasn’t the same. We all kind of missed all that picking. If he liked you he would pick constantly.”

Dave is survived by his wife, Karen Lee (Durst) Durst; one sister, Judy Hetz, Meyersdale, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rick and Gewaine for their lift support and sister, Judy, for moral support.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the St. John’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tyler Graham officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery.
