Obituary for Daniel Moses Miller

Daniel Moses Miller, 95, of Grantsville, MD, died Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.

Born January 12, 1927, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Floyd and Fannie (Maust) Miller. He was also preceded in death by three sons, Robert, Joel and Delbert; four brothers, Ivan, Lewis, Jacob and Allen; two sisters, Mary Miller and Iva Doyle.

Survived by his wife of 70 years, Grace Marie (Schrock) Miller, whom he married October 20, 1951, in Hartville, OH, together they had seven children; Margaret (Jim) Schrock, Starkville, MS; Ernest (Karen) Miller, Silver Spring, MD; Eleanor (Vernon) Yoder, Meyersdale; Mildred (Leroy) Yoder, Grantsville; one daughter-in-law, Judy Miller, Sarasota, FL; 10 grandchildren, Arnold (Maria) Schrock, Heather (Mike) Yommer, Ian Miller, Caitlin Miller, Jeremy (Lanna) Yoder, Eric (Lauren) Yoder, Jordan (Rebecca) Yoder, Maria Yoder, Evan Yoder and Ryan Yoder; 6 great-grandchildren, Tyson, Lucy, Arianna, Wyatt, Miles and Luke; 9 sisters, Barbara Miller, Katharine Miller, Miriam Miller, Ida Marie Miller, Loretta Burkey, Rhoda Keefer, Alice Orendorf, Gertrude Slabach, and Rachel Miller.

In his youth he accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, and served him faithfully throughout his life. Upon his confession of faith, he was baptized and was a lifelong member of Maple Glen Mennonite Church, where he actively served in many ways.

Mr. Miller worked as the Maintenance Supervisor at Yoder’s Meat Packers for 30 years. In his retirement he had a hauling and taxi service for the Amish. He was on the Goodwill Retirement Community board for many years.

He was a man of integrity and was well respected in the community. His life was a great example and he will be missed by all. He lived a long, full life and his longing to “go home” has now been realized.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Maple Glen Mennonite Church on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Tim Yoder officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Maple Glen Cemetery.
