Obituary for Clyde Edgar Tressler

Clyde Edgar Tressler, 90, of Salisbury, PA, died Sunday, January 29, 2023, at UPMC Somerset Hospital, Somerset, PA.

Born October 25, 1932, in Springs, PA, he was the son of the late John and Annie (Eichorn) Tressler. Clyde was the last surviving member of his family, preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Irving, Martin “Bud” and Elwood “Piney” (Audrey); sisters, Viola (John) Maust and Mary Bennett; sons-in-law, Dwane Shultz and Greg Conn; daughter-in-law, Susan Tressler; parents-in-law, Carl and Eleanor Richter; brothers-in-law, Everett Hare, Wayne Collier and Mike Richter.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine D. (Richter) Tressler; children, David, Sun City, AZ; Ann Conn, Springs; Pam (Elmer) Paul, Salisbury; granddaughters, Mindy (William) Barnett, Ashley (Justin) Morris, Chelsey Conn and Connor (Nathan) Ryan; great-grandchildren, Scottie, Madison (fiancé Dalton), Damari, Tucker, Delilah, Danica and Rayna; sisters and brother-in-law, Earleena Tressler, Yvonne Collier, LaDonna (Robert) McKenzie, William (Betty) Richter, Julie Richter and Susan (Bill) Reebel; several special nieces and nephews.

Clyde worked on John and Viola’s farm when he was young. He then drove milk truck and worked at Bittner’s Service Station, prior to beginning his career as a diesel mechanic, working for Casselman Motor’s, Grantsville Ford and Harry Winter’s Garbage Co. Clyde retired as an Instructor from the Diesel Institute of America in 1998. After retirement he worked part-time at Salisbury Builders Supply. He was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, LCMS, Accident, MD.

Clyde enjoyed hunting, family camping, rides in the mountains, being outdoors and working around the house. He was a charter member of Glade View Rod & Gun Club and the Mt. Davis Maple Leaf Campers. He also enjoyed being with his family and attending the grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, LCMS, Accident, on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. James Oester officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springs Cemetery, Springs.
