Obituary for Clyde Milton Savage

Clyde Milton Savage, 86, of Clear Spring, MD, died Wednesday, November 22, 2023, peacefully at home.

Born July 13, 1937, in Sang Run, MD, he was the son of the late Milton R. and Thelma Fances (Dixon) Savage, of Sang Run. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Wilda Snyder, Marjorie Simpson, and Mary Ellen Friend.

He grew up in Sang Run and was a 1956 graduate of Northern High School, Accident, MD. Clyde spent one summer in Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked for Thompson-Ramo-Woolridge Company which produced Thompson products. January 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and attended basic training at Lackland, TX Air Force Base. He was sent to Chanuet Air Force Base in Illinois for three months of training in the electronic field. He spent time in Paris at an Air Force Base and became Airman Electrician 2nd class serving at Dover Air Force Base. Clyde worked on C-124 and C-133 cargo planes for 3 years. He chose not to re-enlist and was honorably discharged from the Air Force. He returned to Cleveland for work for 3 years, Clyde then returned to Maryland in May of 1963 and was hired at Mack Truck, Hagerstown, MD. He worked at Mack Truck for 35 years, retiring in May of 1998. Clyde enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and hunting in Garrett County. He also enjoyed woodworking during his retirement years.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Naomi Savage, of 60 years; three sons, Jeffrey Savage (Lucinda), Clear Spring, Joseph Savage (Tamara), Emmitsburg, MD, Jeremy Savage (Amy), Vista California, and one daughter, Kim Savage (John), North East, MD; one sister, Carolyn Davis, Sang Run; four granddaughters and one grandson, Rachael Savage, Lacey Herman, Ann Savage, Natalie Savage, and Zachary Savage; three great grandchildren, Chase Herman, Nicholas Bragunier, and Ameilia Bragunier, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Hwy., Accident (McHenry), MD, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Messer, Pastor Ed Hampton and Pastor Curtis Hendershot officiating. Interment will be in the Creekside Prayer Chapel Cemetery, Sang Run, MD.
