He was a member of the BWAC, Baltimore Wheelchair Athletic Club, which he was one of the original 5 founding members, for 15 years. He was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, MD.

Carl enjoyed playing sports outside with the whole neighborhood of kids. In retirement he loved watching his children and grandchildren playing their respective sports.

Carl was totally devoted to his wife, they both embraced all the physical challenges they encountered with dignity and grace for 55 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Frazee) Younkin; one son, Dean (Denise) Younkin, Palm Bay, FL; one daughter, Tammy (Tom) Siedlecki, Forest Hill, MD; three siblings, Kathy Margroff, Ken Younkin and Richard (Louise) Younkin; six grandchildren, Brandon Younkin, Kara (Tyler) Shepherd, Tyler Younkin, Stephen (fiancée, Bridgette) Siedlecki, Adam Siedlecki and Matthew Siedlecki; three great-grandsons, Carson, Emmett and Asher Shepherd; along with many nieces and nephews.
