Obituary for Avalena Faye Dumire (Feather)
Avalena Faye Dumire, 88, of Accident, MD, passed away on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Born in Eglon, WV, on February 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Guy Edwin & Anna Sue (Strawser) Feather. Avalena was the loving wife of 29 years to the late, Carl Lowell Dumire of Lead Mine, WV.
Avalena worked for many years in banking. However, she retired from a position in medical billing.
She cherished her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Avalena is survived by her loving children; Gloria A. Reddy and her husband, Paul; Larry A. Dumire and his wife, Kathy; and Carla S. Warner, and her husband, Billy; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby K. Judy; and her dear companion of 11 years, Pumpkin. Avalena was predeceased by her husband, Carl L. Dumire and her brother, Norman Feather.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 26th, 2023, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD 21550. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Debbie Strawser. Interment will immediately follow in the Maple Spring Cemetery, in Eglon, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
